Evolving Perspectives is a collaborative project developed with costume designer Anna Tedino, aimed at building a cohesive visual identity for Trio Cavalazzi, a Milan-based band blending classical and electronic music.
The goal was to define an all-round image that reflected the band’s experimental sound and emerging artistic vision.
My role:
Visual identity, branding, EP artwork, and merchandising design.
The Challenge
As a breakthrough band, Trio Cavalazzi needed a clear and recognizable visual language that could translate their hybrid musical identity across multiple touchpoints, from branding to physical products. The challenge was to create a system that felt minimal yet expressive, while conceptually supporting the band’s approach to music-making.
Research & Creative Direction
This research phase helped define a conceptual direction rooted in the idea of recyclingreinterpreting existing elements to create something new. This concept mirrors the band’s sound, which combines classical structures with electronic experimentation.
Visual Identity
The logo was designed to be simple, functional, and distinctive. To introduce a unique visual element, the “O” was replaced with a shape extrapolated from sketches by Swedish designer Alvar Aalto.Rather than creating a form from scratch, we intentionally started from an existing image and recontextualized it, reinforcing the idea of recycling as both a visual and conceptual strategy.
The recycling concept became the foundation for the EP artwork for Tiny Games. The cover was built by combining fragments from different sketches and images, assembling them into a new composition that references the album title and reflects the band’s layered sound.
This approach allowed the artwork to feel playful, experimental, and closely tied to the music.
Merchandising
The merchandising was developed as a direct extension of the EP artwork and overall visual identity.Inspired by the title Tiny Games, the designs function as a visual puzzle, inviting the audience to engage with the imagery.
All shapes and elements were derived from existing artworks and inspirations, transformed into new forms, continuing the theme of recycling and reinterpretation across physical products.
Results & Reflection
The project resulted in a cohesive and flexible visual identity that translates Trio Cavalazzi’s musical approach into a clear visual language. The system works consistently across branding, EP artwork, and merchandising, giving the band a recognizable image as they continue to grow and evolve. From a design perspective, Evolving Perspectives reinforced the value of working across disciplines. Developing the project end-to-end made it possible to maintain conceptual coherence while adapting the visuals to different formats and uses.
This collaboration also highlighted the importance of research and dialogue when working with emerging artists. Starting from interviews and shared references allowed the visual identity to feel authentic to the band’s sound, while leaving room for experimentation and future expansion.
